The Community Behind The Moving Wall shares the story of how awesome our Community of New Boston really is! We have Donations and Sponsorships that need to be mentioned. This project is quite an undertaking for our Community. The Chamber is spearheading it, but so many others jumped right in to help pull this all together. All of this is built on a "flexible budget" since it is a first for our community.
As more and more ideas and plans came together, we quickly realized it is a pretty complex & expensive venture. We hope others within our community will come forward to help, more so financially. Donations of any size can be made at our The Moving Wall Page
That's why it is so important to acknowledge all those who have already offered to help us. We are still in the "make sure people know about this" awesome event coming to our area. Actual planning and starting to get everything organized will start in May. Meanwhile - it's a community thing!
First and foremost is our New Boston City Manager, Wayne Dial. We wanted the display of The Moving Wall to be at the large Midway & Pavilion area. He immediately jumped at the chance to bring this exhibit to New Boston. He arranged for several employees to meet with us to review the best placement and setting up of the Wall. That kind of help is invaluable to the success of this exhibit - it's a community thing!
Our Chamber President, Kayla Simmons of Farmers Bank approached her marketing team and they came thru in a great way! We're getting the use of all 5 of their digital billboards along our major area highways for July and August.
They also donated funding for our expenses as well - it's a community thing!
The Boston Entertainment District has offered that always needed "Feet on the ground" to make sure we have the manpower and volunteers necessary. They've been running the Pioneer Days, Freedom Fest and other events now for us and have great people to lend a hand.
They want to make this event the best ever - it's a community thing!
The American Legion Post 488, on Hwy 82 W, will be the "Home" Legion for that event and they sure have stepped up with lots of volunteers for this event.
They help out with Honor Guards, Security, man the information booths and just provide that awesome help that this size event needs - it's a community thing!
Publisher Kenny Mitchell was probably the most excited about The Moving Wall coming to New Boston! He immediately started naming all kinds of things we could do to help promote it and make it a huge success.
He's already done one story and I know he plans on a big coverage story in early July to feed all the communities surrounding our Bowie County - it's a community thing!
Boston Hardware & Lumber was one of the first businesses to offer their Billboard out on I-30. They have the perfect spot for an ideal Billboard. It's near the Go-Cart Track off Daniel Chapel Rd and faces the east bound traffic on I-30, just before the perfect exit of Rt 8 for coming to see the Wall. We'll be placing a billboard there for all of July, August and the first week of September - it's a community thing!
Chamber Board Member Lori Springer went to all the Bowie County FFA Schools and asked them to build a Bench for people to rest or reflect on while visiting the Wall. Each school jumped at the opportunity to provide them. We'll provide plaques on the benches with the different school names on them so they can auction them off when we are done with the Wall - it's a community thing!
Chamber Board Member Clay Garrett of West Fraser Lumber Company is donating all the lumber needed for the FFA Schools to build the benches.
They are also donating all the lumber needed to build the foundation for The Moving Wall to be placed upon when it arrives in September - it's a community thing!
Twitty Nursery, Rt 67 in Texarkana is providing the flowers, bushes and necessary items to dress up our display area. The area for the Wall display is a very stark location behind the Wall - but, it is the best location by far for so many visitors coming here. We're hoping Mums will be ready by then - it's a community thing!
Chamber Board Member Adam McLain of Ar-Tex Printing is helping us put together all the necessary printing items for this. Billboards, Posters, Tri-fold Brochures, New Boston Logo Tracing paper for people to trace names on the Wall, Missing Man Framing Setup, Table Toppers for restaurants, etc. - it's a community thing!
Holiday Inn & Suites in New Boston is helping us with a great room for the Driver that delivers and sets up The Moving Wall. They go from location to location throughout the season so towns like ours can have this great exhibit here in New Boston.
Holiday Inn & Suites is extending their Welcome Mat to our driver - it's a community thing!
Justin Steinhilber has volunteered to refurbish our MIA Exhibit to like-new condition. Red River Valley Veterans Memorial in Paris, TX is lending it to us for our Moving Wall Exhibit. It's a triangle of Iron as a 24 hour eternal flame and needs some TLC.
After our exhibit in New Boston, it will be moved back to Paris, TX Veterans Museum for permanent display - it's a community thing!
New Boston Property Management has provided a substantial donation of funds to our event.
Companies like this help keep our Community involved and ready to step up when needed - it's a community thing!
We are truly honored to have such a great Judge in Bowie County. Judge Bobby Howell was the first person to offer financial help for bringing The Moving Wall to New Boston.
We are proud to honor him as our first donor - it's a community thing!
It's a Community Thing! Whitney Bettis & Benny Rogers offered an incredible deal on their Billboard on the northbound side of I-30 & Hwy 98.
We'll get a better picture posted when it's finished. It's a community thing!
Our local area advisor or the Texas Veterans Commission has volunteered to setup a booth under our Pavilion during the time The Moving Wall is here to assist any Veterans that may need help - it's a community thing!
