Roma Italian Restaurant, 137 NE Front St., New Boston, TX 75574

The brothers have been working hard to open Roma Italian Restaurant in downtown New Boston. Finally, on Jan 8, 2024 their dream became real - they Opened!! The Dervishi brothers are the owners of two other Roma locations in Hugo and Antlers, Oklahoma. But this will be their first location in Texas, Buci said. “I was looking here a long time ago, about 2018, but I never found anything. It always seemed like a nice town to have an Italian restaurant,” he said. “A guy from here stopped by in Hugo to eat and he said that he wished we would come here because there has never been an Italian restaurant.” It took five years for the stars to align, but the opening of a space downtown after the closing of China Cafe brought with it the perfect location for their vision to become a reality, Buci said.

Everything that comes from their restaurant is authentic and cooked fresh, Buci said. “It takes a minute to come out, it’s not going to be just in and out, but everything is going to be fresh. We make our own dough, our own sauce, our own pasta, everything,” he added. The brothers, who hail from Kosovo, said that the Mediterranean flavors of Italian food are what they grew up eating in their family. “We cook this kind of food back home, pastas and pizzas,” Buci said. But, he said, it was working for his uncle in New York that helped hone their restaurant skills and give them the desire to start their own business.

After a few years in New York, Buci said he made the decision to move to the south where he felt more at home in the small town. “I like to know everybody and I like everybody to know me. In Hugo, we’re like at home over there. We’ve been there for 13 years in the same place. Everybody knows us and we know everybody. Six days a week, we have the same customers and we know what they eat. That’s what I like,” he said.
